
I made a comment the other day to a friend that sooo many people are strung out on stress now a days. She kind of laughed and said wow, that is a great statement. So, I got to thinking about this statement and started googling the definitions of strung out and stress. I know that strung out is also related to being “strung out” on drugs but also the definition is being “very tired and worried”.
Now, the definition of stress is “a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances”. Therefore, this truly is a strong statement. Many are very tired and worried from the emotional or mental strain that is going on in their lives. There are so many people dealing with chronic stress in today’s world. Did you know that the effects of chronic stress can actually rewire our brain chemistry leading to a hyperactive nervous system that results in feelings of irritability, agitation, anxiety, panic, poor sleep, increased appetite and vulnerability to addiction? WOW, and we wonder why there are so many issues with depression and anxiety and just unhappy, worn-out folks in this world.
Therefore, you MUST get control over your stress.
